FuelSeverity High: diagnose before driving on

P0090Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Control Circuit

What it means

The ECU sees an electrical fault in the control circuit of fuel pressure regulator 1 (on diesels often the metering valve or the pressure control valve). The ECU can't control rail pressure.

Symptoms

  • No start or stalling
  • Limp mode
  • Rough running

Common causes

  • Open or shorted regulator winding
  • Wiring or connector fault
  • ECU driver fault

What to check first

  1. Measure the regulator resistance (often 2–8 Ω)
  2. Check the supply and the ECU control signal with a scope
  3. Inspect the connector for fuel or water inside
