P0180Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit
What it means
The ECU has detected an electrical fault in the fuel temperature sensor circuit. The ECU uses fuel temperature to correct the injected quantity (fuel gets thinner when hot).
Symptoms
- Check engine light
- Possibly slightly reduced power or harder hot starts
Common causes
- Open or shorted wiring between the sensor and the ECU
- Corroded or loose connector
- Failed fuel temperature sensor
What to check first
- Compare the live reading with the real temperature (IR thermometer)
- Measure the sensor resistance and compare it with the temperature table
- Check the 5 V pull-up and the ground at the connector
