P2002Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
What it means
The ECU believes the particulate filter is not trapping soot as it should: the pressure difference across it is too low for the conditions. The filter may be cracked, or the measurement is wrong.
Symptoms
- Check engine light
- Possibly soot at the tailpipe
- Usually no loss of power
Common causes
- Cracked or damaged DPF
- Split or disconnected differential pressure sensor hose
- Faulty differential pressure sensor
- DPF removed or hollowed out
What to check first
- Check DPF differential pressure at idle and at 3,000 rpm
- Inspect both sensor hoses for splits and correct routing
- Look for soot downstream of the DPF
