P0102Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit Low
What it means
The MAF signal is lower than the sensor can produce with the engine running: the ECU sees almost no airflow. Usually the signal or supply circuit is open, or the sensor has failed.
Symptoms
- Hesitation or flat spots when accelerating
- Rough idle or stalling
- Higher fuel consumption
- On diesels: limp mode, sometimes black smoke
Common causes
- Open signal wire or missing supply
- Signal shorted to ground
- Failed MAF sensor
- Unplugged or corroded connector
What to check first
- Check the supply and ground at the connector
- Check the signal at idle (often around 1 V for voltage-output sensors)
- Check the wiring for chafing
