P0236Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance
What it means
The boost pressure sensor signal is electrically possible, but it doesn't make sense compared with other sensors or with what the engine is doing. The boost pressure sensor measures the pressure after the turbo or supercharger.
Symptoms
- Limp mode with low power
- Black smoke or poor acceleration
- Check engine light
Common causes
- Sensor contaminated with oil or soot
- Boost leak or split hose
- Sensor drifting
- Real overboost or underboost
What to check first
- Key on, engine off: boost pressure should match barometric pressure
- Compare requested and actual boost under load
- Clean or inspect the sensor and check for boost leaks
