Air intakeSeverity Medium: diagnose soon

P0243Turbocharger/Supercharger Wastegate Solenoid "A"

What it means

The ECU sees an electrical fault in the wastegate (boost control) solenoid circuit, so it can't control boost pressure.

Symptoms

  • Low power or limp mode
  • Overboost or underboost codes
  • Check engine light

Common causes

  • Open solenoid winding or wire
  • Missing supply to the solenoid
  • Connector corrosion
  • ECU driver fault

What to check first

  1. Measure the solenoid resistance (often 10–30 Ω)
  2. Check the supply and run the actuator test
  3. Check the vacuum lines to and from the solenoid
Can I drive with P0243? Usually yes for a short distance, but performance or economy may suffer and the fault can get worse. Diagnose it soon.

Generic OBD-II meaning. Manufacturer-specific meanings and checks can differ; always check the service information for the car.
